India to Follow ICC Uniform Rules for 2025 Champions Trophy

BCCI Confirms Compliance with ICC Guidelines

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced its commitment to adhering to the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) uniform regulations for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, which will be hosted by Pakistan.

Uniform Rules and Tournament Logo

Addressing recent speculation, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia clarified that India has no objections to including Pakistan’s name on their kits, as mandated by ICC rules.

“BCCI will follow every uniform-related ICC rule during the Champions Trophy,” Saikia told PTI.

ICC guidelines require all participating teams to display the official tournament logo, including the host nation’s name, on their uniforms.

Matches in Neutral Venue

While India’s compliance with uniform rules has been confirmed, the hybrid model approved by the ICC will allow India to play their matches in Dubai, UAE, rather than in Pakistan.

The hybrid model ensures India’s participation while addressing logistics and security concerns.

Opening Ceremony Uncertainty

Regarding Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s potential attendance at the opening ceremony in Pakistan, Saikia revealed that no final decision has been made.

“Whether Rohit Sharma will travel to Pakistan for ICC media engagements is still undecided,” Saikia stated.

Broader Implications

This confirmation comes amidst ongoing discussions about India’s involvement in the tournament, with BCCI addressing both logistical and security concerns.

India’s participation underlines the significance of the Champions Trophy as a global cricketing event, while the hybrid model ensures a workable solution for all stakeholders.
