International Cricket Council (ICC) Chief Executive Geoff Allardice has applauded the swift redevelopment of Gaddafi Stadium and National Stadium, calling their modern transformation within 117 days a remarkable achievement.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at Lahore Fort on Sunday, Allardice expressed excitement for the tournament, highlighting Pakistan’s opportunity to showcase its deep-rooted cricket passion.
“Pakistan has a golden opportunity to showcase its passion for cricket,” said Allardice. “I witnessed Pakistan’s victory in the Champions Trophy final at The Oval, and I look forward to seeing great cricket here.”
He particularly commended Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, where renovations were completed in record time to meet international standards.
“The transformation of Gaddafi Stadium in just 117 days is a major accomplishment,” he noted.
