Indian Fans Demand ICC Champions Trophy Be Shifted to Pakistan Amid Empty Stands

During the ICC Champions Trophy match between India and Bangladesh in Dubai, Indian fans expressed frustration over the lack of attendance, calling for the tournament to be shifted to Pakistan.

As the game progressed, social media users criticized the empty stands, raising concerns about the declining interest in One-Day Internationals (ODIs). Many suggested that ICC events should be hosted only in cricket-loving nations such as India, England, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.

Some fans even questioned the relevance of ODIs, with suggestions to either shorten the format to 40 overs or focus solely on T20 cricket.

Former IPL chairman Lalit Modi also weighed in on the debate, posting on X:
“Watching the @ICC Champions Trophy cricket match between #India and #Bangladesh. Stands are empty. That would not happen at an #IPL game. Is the one-day format becoming irrelevant to the fans? Should one-day cricket be scrapped and more Test cricket?”

Pakistan is set to host the 2025 edition of the Champions Trophy, while India is playing all its matches in Dubai for this year’s tournament.
