Hasan Ali Defends Babar Azam Amid Criticism: “The King Will Bounce Back”

In the midst of growing criticism over Babar Azam’s recent performances in the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, Karachi Kings’ vice-captain Hasan Ali has stepped forward in staunch support of the former Pakistan skipper.

Speaking at a post-match press conference on Monday after Karachi Kings’ defeat to Lahore Qalandars, Hasan Ali called for patience and reiterated Babar’s importance to the national team.

“Babar is our best player, and he will bounce back,” Hasan said. “We made Babar the king, and now we’re bringing him down. If my words — ‘The King will deliver’ — hurt anyone, I apologise. But my stance remains unchanged.”

Babar Under Scrutiny in PSL 10

Babar Azam, often hailed as Pakistan’s batting maestro, has been under intense scrutiny for his form during this season of the PSL. Many fans and pundits have questioned his impact, but Hasan brushed aside the criticism, emphasizing the highs and lows every player experiences.

Karachi Kings’ Struggles Continue

Hasan also reflected on the team’s recent defeat, attributing the loss to a poor start with the bat.

“We lost early wickets, couldn’t build partnerships, and the pressure mounted,” he admitted.

A Message Against Toxic Criticism

Hasan didn’t shy away from discussing the negative culture that has surrounded the sport, especially on social media.

“Criticism for improvement is fine, but when families are targeted, it affects everyone,” he stated, referencing the backlash players faced during Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand earlier this year.

He urged fans to keep the criticism constructive and avoid personal attacks that can deeply affect players and their families.

Eyes on a National Comeback

Having last played for Pakistan in May 2024, Hasan remains hopeful about his return to the international squad.

“I’m still young and believe in my ability. Performances here will decide my international future,” he said.

A Veteran Still Fighting

Hasan Ali, a key part of Pakistan’s 2017 Champions Trophy-winning squad, continues to be a vital presence in both domestic and franchise cricket. His vocal support for teammates like Babar showcases the camaraderie and resilience within the national cricketing circle, even in testing times.
