India’s national cricket team has officially arrived in Dubai ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is being hosted by Pakistan. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the team’s arrival, marking the beginning of their campaign in this prestigious tournament.
Led by captain Rohit Sharma, India is set to face Bangladesh on February 20 in their opening match of the tournament. Despite the tournament being hosted in Pakistan, political tensions and security concerns led to the Indian government’s decision not to send the team to Pakistan. As a result, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), BCCI, and the International Cricket Council (ICC) came to a consensus that India would play all of its matches in Dubai under a “hybrid model.”
The BCCI shared an update on social media, with the caption “Touchdown Dubai,” alongside a video of Indian cricketers, including Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, stepping off their team bus and arriving at their hotel in Dubai.
India’s much-anticipated match against Pakistan is scheduled for February 23 in Dubai. This high-profile encounter is expected to capture the attention of millions of cricket fans worldwide, as clashes between the two teams have a history of drawing large crowds and exceptional viewership. The rivalry between India and Pakistan has long been one of the most electrifying in world cricket.
In the previous ICC Champions Trophy, Pakistan defeated India by 180 runs in the final, lifting the trophy in what remains a memorable victory. In Group A, Pakistan shares the group with India, New Zealand, and Bangladesh, and will begin their campaign with a match against New Zealand in Karachi on February 19.
