Karachi Kings Clinch Thrilling Win as Aamir Jamal Fined for Code of Conduct Breach
Karachi Kings edged out Peshawar Zalmi in a nail-biting finish in the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, but the match wasn’t without controversy. All-rounder Aamir Jamal was fined 5% of his match fee for a Level 1 offence, overshadowing the Kings’ third victory of the season.
Jamal was found guilty of breaching Article 2.5 of the PSL Code of Conduct, which addresses conduct likely to provoke an aggressive response from a dismissed batter. The incident occurred during the 15th over of Zalmi’s innings when Jamal made an inappropriate remark after dismissing Hussain Talat. On-field umpires Faisal Khan Afridi and Paul Reiffel reported the incident, and Jamal accepted the penalty imposed by match referee Iftikhar Ahmed.
Despite the disciplinary hiccup, Karachi held their nerve to chase down a modest target of 148 on a sluggish pitch at the National Bank Cricket Stadium. The chase came down to the wire, with Hasan Ali striking the winning boundary with just three balls remaining.
The innings was anchored by Shan Warner, who stood tall amidst a flurry of wickets. His composed 60 off 47 balls included crucial stands with Saad Baig, Muhammad Irfan Khan, Mohammad Nabi, and Khushdil Shah. After early setbacks that saw Tim Seifert depart for a golden duck and James Vince fall cheaply, Warner’s calm presence helped stabilize the innings.
Khushdil Shah’s unbeaten 23 off 17 balls proved vital in the final moments, as he hit three boundaries to guide Karachi to victory after they stumbled to 133 for 8.
Aamir Jamal, known for previous controversies—including a fine during the England Test series for displaying a political message on his cap—finds himself once again in the spotlight. This latest incident, however, did little to derail Karachi’s momentum.
Karachi Kings will next face Quetta Gladiators in their sixth outing of the season at Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium on April 25, aiming to build on their winning streak amid a tightly contested PSL 10.
