Kyle Mayers Joins Islamabad United as Replacement for Short, van der Dussen in PSL 10
Islamabad United have confirmed the inclusion of West Indian all-rounder Kyle Mayers as a replacement for Matt Short and Rassie van der Dussen, both of whom have been ruled out of the ongoing HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10.
Mayers, known for his explosive batting and handy medium pace, is expected to join the squad ahead of Islamabad United’s sixth fixture in Lahore. His addition is seen as a strategic move to reinforce the team’s balance midway through the tournament.
Rassie van der Dussen has opted out of this year’s PSL due to personal reasons, with both the player and franchise reaching a mutual agreement. Islamabad United extended their full support to van der Dussen during this difficult time.
“Rassie’s decision is completely understandable, and we stand firmly with him,” said Head Coach Mike Hesson. “While we’re pleased with our start to the season, we’re not resting on our laurels. We’re excited to welcome Kyle Mayers, a proven T20 performer, who we believe can make a significant impact on the field.”
Rehan Ulhaq, General Manager of Islamabad United, echoed the sentiment, stating, “Kyle Mayers fits perfectly into our team philosophy. He’s multifaceted and brings the balance we need, aligning well with the type of player we value.”
With both Short and van der Dussen unavailable, Islamabad United remains focused on their PSL 10 campaign. The team will next face a tough challenge against the in-form Multan Sultans on Wednesday.
As PSL 10 unfolds, fans will be eager to see how Mayers adjusts to the high-pressure environment and contributes to Islamabad United’s pursuit of glory.
