Monsoon Rains Claim 15 Lives in Pakistan's Northwest

Recent monsoon rains in Pakistan’s northwest province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have caused significant damage, claiming 15 lives in the last four days. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has reported that 12 houses were completely destroyed, and 83 others were partially damaged due to the heavy rains and floods. This comes after last year’s unprecedented monsoon rains that resulted in flash floods across the country, causing substantial losses.

Preventative Measures:

The PDMA has taken preventive measures to protect communities in Lower Chitral, shifting them to safer locations ahead of more expected rains. Dry rations, tents, plastic mats, kitchen sets, buckets, quilts, and hygiene kits have been provided to the affected communities to meet their immediate needs.

Comprehensive Relief Equipment:

The relief equipment provided to the affected areas includes solar lights, jerry cans, mosquito nets, soaps, pillows, wheelchairs, stretchers, dewatering pumps, and sandbags. These provisions aim to address the various challenges faced by the communities during the floods.
