Pakistan Aims for $50 Billion Trade with Central Asia, Says Minister of Commerce

During Uzbekistan’s Independence Day celebration in Islamabad, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Commerce, Industries & Production, Dr. Gohar Ejaz, unveiled ambitious plans for trade with Central Asian countries. He expressed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening trade ties with Uzbekistan and pledged to achieve $1 billion in trade between the two nations within the current year.
Over the past four years, Pakistan and Uzbekistan have made significant progress in revitalizing their bilateral trade relations. This growth is evident in the trade volume, which has increased from $27 million in 2019-20 to an impressive $126.05 million in 2022-23.
The minister emphasized the importance of Pakistan emulating Uzbekistan’s revolutionary agricultural development model, highlighting the potential for mutual growth. This focus on agriculture could be a significant driver in expanding trade relations between the two countries and further strengthening Pakistan’s ties with Central Asian nations.
