In a significant development for South Asian cricket, Pakistan and Bangladesh have officially agreed to a T20 International (T20I) series after successful high-level talks between the two cricket boards.
The announcement follows a constructive meeting between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Chairman Nazmul Abedin along with BCB President Faruque Ahmed. The discussions paved the way for Bangladesh’s national team to tour Pakistan this month for a three-match T20I series.
All matches are set to take place at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, with the official schedule expected to be released shortly.
Strengthening Cricketing Ties
Expressing his gratitude, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi thanked the Bangladeshi cricket leadership for their cooperation and trust.
“We are grateful to the BCB leadership for their trust and cooperation. This series is another positive step in strengthening cricketing ties between our nations,” Naqvi said.
This tour marks a crucial moment in the revival and growth of international cricket in Pakistan, especially considering the challenges of hosting foreign teams in recent years.
Venue and Series Details
While there was initial interest from PCB in hosting some matches in Faisalabad, it appears that the revival of cricket in that city will need to wait, as all fixtures are currently confirmed for Lahore.
Reports also indicate that several Bangladeshi players expressed concerns about committing to a longer five-match series due to their packed international calendars. As a result, the series has been limited to three matches.
Looking Ahead
This T20I series is expected to provide exciting, competitive cricket and offers fans in Pakistan the opportunity to witness high-quality international action at home. It also strengthens bilateral relations through sport, promoting goodwill and cooperation between the neighboring nations.
Stay tuned for the official match schedule and further updates on this eagerly awaited series.
