Pakistan’s Cement Exports Soar by 28% in FY25: A Sign of Growing Industrial Strength

Pakistan’s cement industry is making headlines for all the right reasons, as exports posted a sharp rise of 28.19% during the first nine months of the fiscal year 2024–25, according to the latest data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

Between July and March, cement exports reached $230.067 million, a strong climb from $179.472 million in the same period last year. Even more impressive is the 39.91% growth in export volume, rising from 4.63 million metric tons to 6.48 million metric tons. This reflects a healthy combination of robust global demand and enhanced production capacity within the country.

Strong March Performance

The growth momentum continued into March 2025, where year-on-year exports increased by 41.30%, reaching $22.004 million compared to $15.572 million in March 2024. The month-to-month growth was also notable, with exports in March rising 10.17% over February’s $19.972 million.

Broader Export Growth

Cement isn’t the only sector showing strength. Overall exports from July to March FY2024–25 grew by 7.69%, amounting to $24.690 billion, up from $22.926 billion in the same period last year. However, imports also rose by 6.33%, touching $42.589 billion, compared to $40.054 billion last year.

A Competitive Edge

The significant rise in cement exports is a positive indicator of Pakistan’s improving industrial competitiveness, especially in the construction materials sector. With more exporters tapping into new and emerging markets, the upward trend signals growing confidence in the country’s manufacturing and trade ecosystem.

As global infrastructure and construction projects pick up pace, Pakistan’s cement industry seems well-positioned to meet rising demand — both regionally and beyond.
