Power Cement to Launch 7.5MW Wind Project by FY2026

In a significant move toward sustainable energy, Power Cement Limited (POWER) has announced plans to commission a 7.5MW wind power project by the fiscal year 2026 (FY2026). The development was shared during the company’s corporate briefing session on Wednesday.

The project will feature a Goldwind turbine with a capacity of 7,500 kW and will be executed under a rental model, mirroring Power Cement’s current solar energy agreements.

🌬️ Diversifying the Energy Mix

Once operational, wind energy will contribute 11% to the company’s energy mix. Currently, the composition stands as:

  • 34% from Waste Heat Recovery System (WHRS)

  • 6% from solar power

  • 60% from the national grid via HESCO

🏭 Company Profile

Founded in 1981, Power Cement Limited is the flagship company of Arif Habib Group, a key industrial and financial conglomerate in Pakistan.

  • Factory Location: Motorway M-9, Nooriabad, Sindh

  • Manufacturing Capacity:

    • Clinker: 10,700 TPD

    • Cement: 3.37 million tons annually (11,235 TPD)

The company was previously known as Al-Abbas Cement Limited until its acquisition by the Arif Habib Group in 2010.

🌱 Green Energy Trends in Pakistan

Power Cement’s wind project aligns with a growing industry trend:

  • Thatta Cement recently commissioned a 4.8MW wind power project.

  • Ali Asghar Textile Mills Limited (AATM) is currently executing a 1MW solar project.

  • Tariq Corporation Limited announced a 200KW solar system installation earlier this year.

These initiatives reflect Pakistan’s manufacturing sector shift toward renewable energy to cut costs, enhance energy security, and reduce dependency on the national grid.
