Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Consults Allied Parties

Constitutional Process for Appointing the Caretaker Prime Minister:

According to the Constitution of Pakistan, the prime minister and the leader of the opposition in the outgoing National Assembly jointly appoint the caretaker prime minister. If they fail to agree on a candidate, the provisions of Article 224A will be followed. The caretaker cabinet, including the caretaker prime minister, will be appointed on the advice of the outgoing prime minister.
