As excitement builds for the 10th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL), Karachi Kings have officially begun their preparations, welcoming key members of their coaching staff to Karachi. Head coach Ravi Bopara and assistant bowling coach Shaun Tait landed in the city on Monday, ahead of the team’s opening match on April 12 against Multan Sultans at the National Bank Stadium.
The team’s training sessions will begin today at 5 PM at the Hanif Mohammad High Performance Centre, located within the National Bank Cricket Arena. The session marks the official kickoff of Karachi Kings’ campaign for HBL PSL 10, as the 2020 champions gear up for a comeback season with a revamped coaching lineup and renewed determination.
Bopara, who brings a wealth of experience both as a coach and a former player, is a familiar face to Karachi Kings fans. He featured in 31 matches for the franchise between 2016 and 2018 and later represented Multan Sultans and Peshawar Zalmi in subsequent PSL seasons. Meanwhile, Shaun Tait—known for his fiery pace during his playing days—joins the team to strengthen the bowling unit with his expertise.
Several national players including Hasan Ali, Abbas Afridi, and Arafat Minhas have also reported to camp, underlining the Kings’ intent to field a competitive and well-prepared squad this season.
HBL PSL 10 is scheduled to begin on April 11 and will run through May 18. The tournament will feature six teams and a total of 34 action-packed matches. The season opener will see defending champions Islamabad United face off against Lahore Qalandars at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Karachi Kings will begin their campaign on April 12 at home, aiming to make the most of familiar conditions and home support. Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium is set to host 13 matches during the tournament, including both eliminators and the grand final, making it a central hub for PSL 10 excitement.
With seasoned coaches, star players, and the backing of passionate fans, Karachi Kings are determined to mount a serious challenge in this milestone season of the Pakistan Super League.
