Amid rising criticism of Pakistan’s star players Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, former opener Salman Butt has called for a more balanced and constructive approach from fans and analysts alike.
Speaking to a digital platform, Butt emphasized that while criticism is natural in a performance-based environment, it must remain fair, constructive, and never personal.
“It’s not about Babar and Rizwan. It is about any player in the world. The national team is a performance-oriented place. Those players who perform will be appreciated, and those who don’t will face criticism,” Butt said.
Butt acknowledged that both Babar and Rizwan have made significant contributions to Pakistan cricket but stressed the importance of continuous improvement.
“Babar, Rizwan have done great service for Pakistan. It is also important to highlight where they are lacking and for them to upgrade themselves. This goes for every player in the world,” he added.
