India’s opener and vice-captain Shubman Gill achieved another historic milestone on Wednesday, becoming the fastest batsman to reach 2,500 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs). He surpassed former South African cricketer Hashim Amla, who previously held the record.
Gill reached the milestone during his 50th ODI against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium, driving a boundary off Gus Atkinson in the 10th over of India’s innings. Amla had achieved the feat in 53 innings, while Gill accomplished it in just 50.
Gill’s Record-Breaking Form
The 25-year-old opener has been in scintillating form throughout the series.

- 2nd ODI in Cuttack (Feb 9): Contributed 60 runs.
- 3rd ODI in Ahmedabad: Scored a magnificent 111 off 102 balls before being dismissed by Adil Rashid.
