Umar Akmal Reveals He Helped Babar Azam Tackle Spin Bowling
Former Pakistan cricketer Umar Akmal has claimed that Babar Azam once sought his advice on how to improve his batting against spinners.
Speaking in an interview with a private TV channel, Akmal recalled the moment when Babar approached him for guidance.
🔹 “I distinctly remember when he was having difficulties with spinners, getting out around midwicket. He came to me and said, ‘Umar bhai, I’m having a bit of trouble,’” Akmal shared.
Akmal suggested that Babar adjust his grip and focus on the ball’s trajectory before committing to a shot.
Babar Azam’s Decline Against Spin
Babar was once among the most dominant batters against spin, averaging 82.1 until 2021. However, his performance has significantly declined:

Strained Relationship Between Akmal and Babar?
During the interview, Akmal appeared visibly upset when asked about his current relationship with Babar.
🔹 “Everyone has their own life,” he responded, hinting at a possible disconnect between the two.
While Babar Azam continues to work on his game, Akmal believes he still has the potential to regain his form against spin.
