The National Bank Stadium Karachi is now 100% structurally complete ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, with finishing work expected to be fully done by January 31.

During a media briefing, Project Manager Bilal Chauhan confirmed that:
✅ The ground floor has been fully completed, including rooms for the ICC Anti-Corruption & Anti-Doping units and match officials’ rooms.
✅ First-floor dressing rooms are near completion.
✅ 24 hospitality boxes on the third and fourth floors are almost ready.
✅ Chairman’s boxes and admin block on the fourth floor are in progress.
✅ Two modern elevators have been installed, with an external lift to follow soon.
✅ VVIP enclosures (Majid Khan & Zaheer Abbas) are under construction, nearing completion.
✅ Lighting upgrades include six LED floodlights, almost fully installed.
✅ Two digital screens (80×30 ft & 20×30 ft) are being installed at Wasim Akram & Intikhab Alam enclosures.
✅ Parking finalized for 2,700 vehicles, pending ICC approval.

Due to ongoing modifications, the stadium’s seating capacity has temporarily reduced from 32,000 to 28,000, though an additional 2,000 seats are available in the pavilion.

The Sindh government has also directed Karachi Metropolitan Corporation to ensure smooth logistics and spectator support.

BCB’s Response

“The money has to be paid. Otherwise, BPL’s reputation will be ruined. We have been patient, but they have crossed all limits. We will file cases for breach of contract and other violations.”

The BCB had reportedly given Rajshahi multiple opportunities to resolve the issue, but their continued failure has forced the board’s hand.

Rajshahi captain Taskin Ahmed shared the challenges his team faced, including being forced to change hotels on match day due to unpaid bills. He revealed that only two hours before the game, players were informed that the foreign contingent would not participate.

“We had to focus on the game despite everything,” said Taskin, adding that some payments were made to local players on match day, though doubts remain about whether the cheques will clear.

This marks the second payment dispute in the ongoing BPL season, raising concerns about the tournament’s governance and financial stability. The refusal of six foreign players to participate has further tarnished the league’s image.
